Mountain Brook, Ala. — Embrace Alabama Kids is proud to support a proposed mural project along Highway 280 in Mountain Brook that aims to beautify a prominent retaining wall while generating positive visibility for the community and the organization’s mission to serve vulnerable children across Alabama.
The mural concept is designed to transform an under-maintained section of the Highway 280 corridor into a visually engaging and welcoming landmark that reflects the character of the Mountain Brook community. The project is being approached intentionally with a strong emphasis on public safety, thoughtful design and collaboration with key partners including the City of Mountain Brook and the Alabama Department of Transportation.
Funding for the project has already been secured allowing the initiative to move forward efficiently once approvals and partnerships are finalized.
“This project presents an opportunity to enhance a highly traveled area of our community while also highlighting the impact of Embrace Alabama Kids,” said a representative involved in the project. “The retaining wall in its current state has become a distraction and feels out of character for the area. This mural offers a solution that is both visually appealing and community centered.”
Embrace Alabama Kids has deep roots in Mountain Brook, the greater Birmingham area and communities across the state. The organization provides homes, healing and hope to vulnerable children and youth—from infants through young adults—through foster care, family services and transitional support programs.
The organization’s connection to Mountain Brook is especially strong with two employees and five board members residing in the community along with active and supportive board members throughout Alabama. These local and statewide ties underscore Embrace Alabama Kids’ long-standing commitment to serving children and strengthening communities.
Leaders with Embrace Alabama Kids believe the mural project has the potential to bring together civic leaders, transportation officials and community members around a shared vision—one that celebrates art, safety and compassion while reinforcing the organization’s mission.
Additional details about the project and partnership opportunities will be shared as the process moves forward.
