Named for the year our ministry was founded, the 1890 Society represents a commitment to ensuring that children have access to homes, healing and hope—not only today but for generations to come. Every legacy gift, regardless of size, helps strengthen the future of our ministry and our ability to serve children and families for generations to come.

ways to leave a legacy

There are many ways to include Embrace Alabama Kids or Embrace Florida Kids in your long-term giving plans, including:

  • Outright gifts
  • Beneficiary designations for retirement plans, IRAs, bank accounts or life insurance policies
  • Bequests, including a percentage of your estate or a specific asset
  • Gifts of stocks or other appreciated assets
  • Charitable remainder trusts

ways to make a future gift

A beneficiary designation is one of the simplest ways to make a future gift to Embrace Alabama Kids or Embrace Florida Kids.

Unlike changing a will or trust, a beneficiary designation can typically be updated by requesting a beneficiary form from your plan administrator. You can name the individuals and charitable organizations you wish to support and designate the percentage of assets each beneficiary will receive.

Common assets that allow you to designate a beneficiary include:

  • Retirement accounts
  • Life insurance policies
  • Commercial annuity contracts
  • Bank accounts
  • Investment accounts

Consider a Gift of Appreciated Stock

Gifting appreciated stock or mutual funds can be another meaningful way to support the mission of Embrace.

Depending on your individual circumstances, donating appreciated securities may provide tax benefits while allowing you to make a significant charitable gift. When you transfer eligible appreciated securities to Embrace, the securities can be sold and the proceeds used to support our work serving children and families.

In many circumstances, a donor may be eligible for a charitable income tax deduction based on the fair market value of the donated securities and may avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation. Tax benefits vary based on individual circumstances, so we encourage you to consult your financial or tax advisor before making a gift.
